Our confined space training is designed to allow candidates to identify the potential dangers which may be present in High, Medium and Low risk environments. Each course is specifically designed with the described risk level in mind, allowing you to work safely in that environment.

ECITB Confined Space High Risk

The High Risk Confined Space course is designed to allow candidates to identify the potential dangers which may be present in a high-risk environment and to enable the safe working in a high-risk environment using self contained breathing apparatus.

  • Introduction to general Health and Safety legislation.
  • Confined space legislation.
  • Interpretation of a safe system of work.
  • Permit to work system and tool box talks
  • Use of a gas monitor.
  • Use of P.P.E (personal protective equipment).
  • Pre-use inspection of escape breathing apparatus.
  • Exit from a medium risk confined space using escape self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Entry/exit from a high risk confined space using, self-contained breathing apparatus.

ECITB Confined Space Medium Risk

The High Risk Confined Space course is designed to allow candidates to identify the potential dangers which maybe present and work safely in a medium risk confined space environment.

  • Introduction to general Health and Safety legislation.
  • Confined space legislation.
  • Interpretation of a safe system of work.
  • Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Permit to work system and tool box talks.
  • Use of a gas monitor.
  • Use of tripod and fall arrest retrieval.
  • Use of P.P.E (personal protective equipment).
  • Pre-use inspection of escape breathing apparatus.
  • Practical entry to a medium risk confined space.
  • Exit from confined space using escape breathing apparatus.

ECITB Confined Space Low Risk

The course is designed to allow candidates to identify the potential dangers which may be present and enable them to work safely in a low risk confined space environment.

  • Introduction to general Health and Safety legislation.
  • Confined space legislation.
  • Interpretation of a safe system of work.
  • Permit to work system.
  • Use of a gas monitor.
  • Use of P.P.E (personal protective equipment).
  • Practical entry to a low risk confined space.

For all 3 courses, candidates must be at least 18 years old and have appropriate fitness to be able to participate in a practical activity. Candidates must be clean shaven to participate in breathing apparatus practical training. Candidates must have strong enough eye sight to read oxygen gauges through breathing apparatus without the use of spectacles.

ECITB Confined Space Training Awareness

This is half day awareness course, designed to allow candidates to identify the potential dangers which may be present in a confined space environment.

  • Introduction to general Health and Safety Confined space legislation.
  • Interpretation of a safe system of work.
  • Interpretation of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Training in a permit to work system.
  • Use of a gas monitor.
  • Use of P.P.E (personal protective equipment).
  • Emergency recording and reporting procedures


ECITB Confined Space High Risk is a two day course at £500 + VAT per delegate

ECITB Confined Space Medium Risk is a one day course at £250 + VAT per delegate

ECITB Confined Space Low Risk is a one day course at £250 + VAT per delegate

ECITB Confined Space Training Awareness is a half day course at £100 + VAT per delegate
